Coffee Cup and Froggy

I did a nice cup of hot coffee Zentangle. I must have been real cold ... matter of fact, I know I was when I did it. Ken tries to keep the termostat at 64 degrees. Great for the electric bill and pretty cold on these old bones of mine.

Today I finished this one. I felt a little Froggy.

Well, I started another project with my Zen Tangles. I am calling this one "I Can". I can see where drawing these gives me some relaxation and also allow me to be creative. It only took me maybe 20 minutes to do it. I had no idea how it was going to turn out. I just started doodling and this is what came up. I used Sharpies and Sargent's Classic Markers on heavy stock paper. My "I Can" maybe a little off and stressed but it is workable. 2/2/12

I was rather slow at putting this together. It looks a lot better in real life. Really need to get me a nice camera to show off my stuff. Most of the work was done with sharpies and sargent fine tip makers. The white and gold with Elmer's Painters. I used my journal page too.

Zen Tangle

I have about 40 pages to fill in my Journal that I made a couple of days ago. I think I will use it as a meditation journal and filling it with Zen Tangle wrapped around a word or phrase. Zen Tangle is repeated patterns. I did one today and the only thing that I worry about in doing this is I had a lot of right arm pain and neck pain. I had to put my neck and elbow brace on. Might want to keep small at first. I may end up changing into something different if I can't do them without having a higher level of pain. Gesh, I am hoping maybe something else set the pain off.

Special Friend Birthday

My Journal

I went to a workshop today on making Journals. It was my first time doing so in our "Scrapbook It" shop here in town. There was about a dozen of us girls there and I loved the conversations. I have been so isolated it seems since I quit work. I am hoping to go at least once a month. The price will be between 10 - 20 dollars and it will get me out of the house. I had most of the working materials: brushes, paints, gesso and cutter, more then what I thought I would have had. She is going to do a new project each month. I am so excited about this. I like card making and scrapbooking but I love doing mixed media.

I have a wish list for a dryer and inks.. great birthday present I think LOL.

I was bored today... so with neck brace on and all... (headache is getting better) I made a few Sugar Christmas Cookies. They are way to sweet to eat and no diabetic should eat these. I probably do it anyway though. I do need company though to get rid of them. So if you live close, drop by LOL.

Still need to finish some Christmas Cards. I almost had these out in the mail Friday but just missed the mailman by 10 minutes.. Came early! Just my luck.... Oh well, it will be Monday before these go out and I have to make a few more. I am going to make this one of my Christmas traditions. Making crafts instead of buying present. Since Ken and I are downsizing everything, I think this would be a great replacement. I will just feel more connectted to the Holidays and Family. I really love my family. Got the best one ever.

Birthday Cards Sept 2011

I have a few cards that I did this week. Matter of fact I did 3 of them but forgot to take pictures of my mother's birthday card. So, I only did Tyler's and Brandon's Birthday card and I still have to make Carmelita's Baby Shower card... yes, I am going to be a grand mother very soon now and I can't wait.

This one belongs to Tyler. He just turned 19.. Boy they really grow up fast too. Tyler is my Step Son. His father and I got married when he was 11

And this one Belongs to my Grandson Brandon. He is the youngest of the grandkids (13) but in just a few days, he will not be.

Quit Smoking Cigarette Pack

I just made this great little cigarette packed for people who are trying to quit smoking with my Wishblade machine. In side the carton are rolled up pieces of paper about the size of a cigarette wrapped with a rubber band. The pieces of paper have tips or justification busters. On the back of the pack has the "Serenity Prayer". There are also a couple of Nicotine Anonymous Website on it for support. I would like to sale these for $6 a pack within the USA. I might to do aboard later. I just need to find out how it is going to work.

Below is a sweet little Thank You Card that I made for my boss. She has been so good to me over that past several years. As some of you know I have been laid off work because of stress. I had gotten burned out and it had increased my back and neck pain. Everything had gotten too much for me. Also age has not been kind to me. I have been post back fusion since 1991 and neck fusion since 1996. Not to mention carpel tunnel surgery 2 years ago. I also have diabetes which means I also suffer neuropathy in my legs and hands. I can be a painful mess at time. My husband is also on disability, so I have been the bread winner in the family.

My boss, has been very supportive in everything she can do.. she is letting come back to work doing care plans one day a week. She even tried me at my request more hours doing the medication card, but my pain level just zoomed back up. My husband started getting upset with me for pushing myself. I was so hoping to get back to work because we can't meet our house payments and soon my unemployment will run out. I have filed for disability and I waiting to hear back. Keeping my fingers cross - but even with that it will be challenging.  I have requested a remodification of our loan.. who knows what will happen with that... not very hopeful on it.

Anyway, Kathy has a great spirit and a kind heart. Not only with me but with other people that work at the nursing home. I don't see how she does it but she does.   I have never heard her complained. I would love to be like her, but I often fall very short. So here is to you Kathy.. it will be in your mailbox Weds.

Sorry I have been away for awhile. I do want to welcome all the newcomers. The past couple of days have been very busy for me. I have started working again after being off for 10 months. I will not be going back full time though. Not sure if I can tolerate it but I am trying for all the time I can have that keeps my pain level at bay. I am a chronic pain suffer related due to lower back and neck surgery. I have had carpal tunnel surgery also and it really isn't a 100 percent but it is a lot better. My most recent injury is tennis elbow but that is getting better. Stress will drive my pain level up.

My first day back to work (Nursing Home) the yearly state survey started! Yeah Me! I was only doing paper work that day - I tried to hide as much as possible LOL but it didn't work well. The next day, one of the nurses called in with a sick baby and I pulled a medication cart and the surveyors wanted to watch me pass out medications -- wonderful. They felt so sorry for me that one of them hugged me. I didn't do too bad considering. Needless to say.. I was feeling stressed on the 3rd day and had to go home because my pain level got bad. The plan is for me to just do one or two days a week in modified duty working with care plans and fall's investigations. I also ask to do the evening short shift 7pm-11pm a couple days a week. Hoping to get at least 30 hours in a week, if I can tolerate it. They are being really great to me…. we are taking it slow.

I am so grateful to not be smoking. I can only imagine the expense that would add with health problems to boot. I don't have health insurance either. Today, I will most likely be working on getting my house clean because I have not touched it in 3 days. My plans for tomorrow is to work on my cards and update my blog.

Courtney's Project

Ken's grand daughter visited yesterday. She made her father a Father's Day Card. We had a great time getting out my wishblade and cutting out things for her project. She did all the designing and I did all the cutting. I have a feeling we are going to do more of these in the future. I just loved the whole experience. Brandon, Ken's grand son, he also did one but it was personal and we couldn't make a picture of it. He didn't want to do any cutting.

I did this card this morning. It is a thank you card for a friend of mine. I haven't finished the inside yet. Not sure of what I how I am going to word my thanks. There is a scrap book place here in town. I really would like to go to some of the card making classes. It's only $3.50 an hour. I really could use some help face to face. Plus it would be a great way to socialize too.

I have been spending a lot of time just updating my blog and my husband's blog. I haven't had a chance to work on much of my own stuff lately. Hopefully next week I will have that chance.

Ken still hasn't put the garden in. I am getting a little anxious over that too. Those tomatoes should be out by now. I was thinking that last year, we had some ripe ones already. I guess our tomatoes will be late and our garden will be smaller. Ken will be spending more time on his grills this year than he did last year. So far, just as soon as we got to the flea market this morning - two of our grills sold right off, then nothing. The weather if very nice today. Tommorrow is going to hotter. Not sure if I want to stay out there or not.

The previous times at the Flea Market we was inside. This time we are outside in the shade. I really like the other vendors. It nice to visit with them. The lady across from us sells the best brownies. Needless to say, I couldn't pass one up. Her husband is talking to Ken about making a large grill for him. He wants it in a trailer. Can't wait to take a picture of that one, once Ken and finished it to share with you all.

Caitlin's Get Well Card

Last night we got a call that our eldest grand child who just had her sweet 16 birthday had to have her appendix removed. She is in the hospital for a couple of days, so I whipped up this card for her. Little did I noticed until the end that I did it backwards... so I made mention of that inside the card. Telling her how backwards we are...hoping to give her a little humor. Here is the card:

This is my first scrap layout and I still have a lot to learn. I see I don't like the glue I used for "It's a girl" and my "It's Positive" was too light for the paper. But at least this a learning thing. I still can't wait for her to get here. So far they thought of the name "Brianna Elizabeth" or "Hanna Elizabeth". I am sure it is going to change a thousand times before she gets here.

Well, I finally got another card done yesterday while Ken was at the flea market. I stopped by Our Scrapbook store here in town. They were having a garage sale this past Saturday and pick up a couple things to make this card with. I really would like to join the shops crops to socialize. She does a great job and the feel of the place is very home like. If you live close by, really need to stop by and see it. I have the banner for the shop at the bottom of my page. Pot Rack

This is some of the work Ken did about a year or so ago for a friend of mine. When he did this piece it was completely cut by hand. He didn't have a plasma cutter at the time, which now he does. There was many hours in this project. It was pretty heavy duty also.

Framed Chili Pepper

This Chili Pepper Metal Art Work is done By Ken Revalee and I have painted the frame a cool blue with scrapbook paper to match. Personally I think I need a little saying on this one but I don't know what to say. If anyone has a great idea of one.. let me know. This is another one that is going to the Flea Market unless my dear sweat friend Roz wants it. My next one I am working on is a hummingbird and then Ken will by doing a me a Rooster.

Framed Strawberry w/ Cylinder

The Framed Strawberry Metal Artwork is done by Ken. I painted the frame in Royal Blue. I used scrapbook material for matting and covering for a small oatmeal container. I cut the strawberries out with my wishblade. We are taking this one to the flea market with us. Not sure what kind of price to ask for it though.

I have been working on this file for my husband to also do in a Metal Art Form. It has ten pieces to it. Really does need a larger welder and a CNC machine. Hopefully in a couple of years we will get that. I have been slow on doing these files because of visiting my family in Florida. Had a great time.. all my siblings was there. Mom did some great cooking as she always does.

Well I just got finished with another GSD and Silhouette file. Did this one pretty fast too. I am having so much fun with creating and drawing the files too. First, I would like to welcome you to my blog. I have develop this blog to allow everyone to see what Ken and I are up too. Ken likes to do metal art work and I like to sketch and draw for him and I also like to create webpages.

This past week, we had our family reunion. The below video and picture was done at this year's Plemen's Family Reunion in Kingston TN.
